Lost and Found
Lost and Found: NOTICE: MSR WOMAN'S LIGHTNING ASCENT SNOWSHOES WITH RED MESH BINDINGS LOST (fell off my pack) on a North to South Z-Bonds traverse yesterday (January 15, 2023) somewhere between Mount Bond and about two tenths of a mile above the first crossing of Black Brook. If you know anything about these, please contact Joyce (text or call) at 207-590-8515. I sure would love to get them back!! Thank you!!

Comments
Comments: Trail was in pretty good shape except for some postholes and crust over powder between Zealand Spur and Guyot. Used spikes until just after the second crossing above the hut then switched to snowshoes which worked well and helped to smooth out the trail a bit, though it was in pretty good shape. Just down from Mt Bond summit (shortly before "The Cliffs") we changed back to spikes as it was becoming awkward and unsafe with snowshoes. Lincoln Woods trail was a bit rough due to the previous travel in slushy conditions resulting in tons of frozen bootprints. Tough on the feet after an already long day. Can't complain though with overall trail conditions. The most spectacular sunset helped lighten my mood after discovering my snowshoes had fallen from my pack and I'd retraced my steps 1 1/2 - 2 miles uphill to try to find them, to no avail. Since it was already late in the day and I was tired with little water left I felt I had no choice but to turn around about 1/10 mile above the upper crossing of the Black Brook. So bummed about my snowshoes but rewarded to have experienced another spectacular Z-Bonds traverse with good friends.
