Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The Mt. Kinsman trail maintainer has been hard at work. The waterbars are cleared, many new ones between the TH and Bald Knob have been added and more are marked for creation higher up. Great job. There is mud in the usual places made more noticeable as temps rise and/or one is going down. Kinsman Ridge has several areas where the trail is icy ledge and traffic has gone onto the sides which are eroding but that's nothing new.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This is a great dog route, with a mostly nice footbed, modest slopes, several sippin and dippin streams, plenty of noisy rodents that need to be told dogs rule, and no sticky snow. We met several nice dogs on our way down today, much like yesterday on TFW, which delighted Pepper.

Comments
Comments: There was some ice on ledge higher up on the Mt. Kinsman trail, and between it and North Kinsman. After slowing down to carefully work around the ice for a spell, I finally put the microspikes on, they bit into the ice really well and the easy and speed returned. The wind on the north peak was around 20 mph, while the south peak was only roughly 10. The lower part of the trail was mostly dry, with crunchy leaves and sun, on a delightful trail bed; a fine October hike. The higher part was wet and icy, with some snow (mostly melted though), wind and cloudy skies, and falling water from melting snow on branches; a November hike. Our Plan Bs yesterday and today turned out to be great hikes for the weather.
