Comments
Comments: Well the weather forecast was not a very nice one and we had plans for Jefferson but due to exposure picked Madison as it was less exposure for a short amount of time. Were they wrong! It was slightly snowing when we headed in. I barebooted to valley way tent site but it was quite icy in the first mile. The other two who were with me used spikes (I am just stubborn). The fresh few inches of snow has helped a little and the open water from a week ago has started to freeze thankfully. There is still some spots that have open water but not as much now. When we got to the hut the sun was trying to come out and I had put my snowshoes on at the tent site up but the hard crush made for some ankle breaking walking. We could have used out snowshoes up about half way for the cone of Madison but since we knew the rocks were pretty bare up trop we opted for spikes and they did just fine. The top of Madison had 0 wind and we were blessed with inversion and undercast. What a day and what an opposite forecast it could have been. Whoever was on Adams I was jealous for their view but happy we already hit Adams for the month. It was very cruisy on the way down in spikes and we wore them right to the car.
