Comments
Comments: Jewell Trail is a mess right now, avoid it until we get more snow ... some unfortunate soul postholed most of the trail, maybe he lost a bet and was forced into hard labour ? not one to complain about postholes but can't imagine postholio had any type of fun getting up that trail ...

hiking up Ammo Trail was in decent shape, crampons were best choice, we saw 15 hikers going up / down Ammo and everyone wore crampons ... microspikes might get you there but might not be enough ... not enough snow for snowshoes and trail was packed well ...

the final half mile down Crawford Path to Jewell junction and the upper Jewell Trail was an ankle-twisting rocky obstacle course ... not enough snow for snowshoes to help, microspikes could have been better than crampons ? we switched to snowshoes after descending past the mile-long posthole war zone ...

if you're hiking this route any time before we get more snow, your best option might be up and down Ammo ...
