Fast Fliberty. I started late and wanted to be out before sunset, so I kept the pace on the boil. Micros all the way once I put them on where Liberty Springs started getting steep and the ice thick. Trails overall were light snow over ice & had been very well traveled. Once on FRT, the trail was still hard packed, but with minor postholing all the way to Flume. Snowshoes might have worked between Liberty & Flume, but the trail was loaded with hard frozen ankle breakers. So, snowshoes and crampons got a free ride today. One good storm will smooth things out, though. Beautiful, bright day with little wind. Views forever from the summits. 280+1/576. |
