| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Waterville Valley Ski Lots 1 and 2 were full at 0745, but we easily parked at the northeastern part of Lot 3 very close to the trailhead- no problem. hardly any cars in Lot 3 at that time. Upon return just after lunch, the whole place was packed as expected on this gorgeous "blue bird" (though cold) day :-) |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All 3 water crossings were absolutely fine for adults via walking across the rocks (initial stream crossing followed by the 2 crossings of Tecumseh Brook)- the little guy (first grade) had a little bit tougher time on the first crossing of Tecumseh Brook- needing a handhold as the rocks were a little bit farther apart making it tougher for his shorter legs :-) He did fabulously nonetheless |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Only recall one small downed tree within the first mile- small enough to walk over (even for the little guy). |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
We had the pleasure of meeting many beautiful dogs on both our ascent and descent- none appeared to have any problems with the trail. *I imagine that small dogs would need to be carried across the two crossings of Tecumseh Brook - I am thinking (?). |

| Bugs: |
;-) Gotta' LOVE winter hiking! |
|
| Lost and Found: |
one black glove seen on our ascent within the first 1.5 miles; however it was gone on our descent. |
