The one crossing is not bridged and has packed snow with some ice on the rocks but I didn't find it hard. Poles help. |

Spikes the whole day. Snowshoes were not necessary but if the weather warms up you may need them for the bushwhacks. Both bushwhacks have an easy to follow path and the snow was firm enough that there was no postholing. The beginning of Engine Hill BW had some muddy areas as it often does and there was some rock hopping involved in the wet areas of Rocky Branch trail but overall good conditions. The summit spur is icy under a thin coating of snow and sharper spikes would have helped there but it is such a short section it wasn't worth changing them. |
