| Water Crossing Notes: |
The water on Falling Waters was high, but not that high. It was safer walking in the ankle high water on rocks than risking slipping on black ice at times. We saw kids in sneakers--totally inappropriate footwear! Make sure your boots are waterproofed. |

| Comments: |
Microspikes from start to finish. There are some spots that are sheer ice, just be prepared. We met a woman who told us, "Kinsmans were fine, we had microspikes and either walked over the ice or stepped off trail." Folks, please don't step off trail! They have been widened dramatically since COVID due to the hoards of new folks hiking. It's nice you're out there, but please really really work hard to stay on the trails.
Also, if you get injured and have to stay put for five or six hours until the rescue parties arrive, please make sure you have a foam pad, a sleeping bag, and a good down jacket, and something hot to keep you warm until you can be carried off. |
