Comments
Comments: Warm start- high 30s even before sunrise. There was decent snow pack right from the parking lot so I donned snow shoes from the get go.

There were a few bony sections while hiking alongside the stream, but no issues staying in shoes. The actual ascent once on Kilkenny ridge trail was well packed and fast (especially on the way down!) From the cabin to the summit, the snow was a little looser and there were plenty of post holes from barebooters. I punched through a few times even in shoes.

The trek down was fast, however the snow was getting softer by the minute in the warm temps. Most hikers were headed up in just spikes, so no doubt the trail got beat up.
