Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Slush |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
River was high and difficult to cross. We ended up rock hopping over to a fallen tree and walking across the frozen tree with spikes. It was precarious and suboptimal. On the return trip we crossed downstream with snowshoes but water was ankle deep. |

| Comments: |
Trail was hard packed yet uneven from barebooters which made wearing snowshoes hard until the afternoon when the snow was softer where we could then walk without twisting our ankles inward. Overall the trail is in good shape for such warm consecutive days. Met two other hikers who said they rock hopped across the river and ended up with wet feet for the day. Had a feisty Gray Jay keep things pretty interesting following us over a mile to and from the summit. That was fun! |
