Comments
Comments: Welp this was a day of mess. We barebooted for 7 miles and then we threw on snowshoes as the weather started to get warmer and we started to punch through maybe an inch. Snowshoes up to bondcliff where we found cloudy skies and puddles of water!!! It was warm and windy. It looked like May!!! We had to switch to spikes so our snowshoes didn’t break. A few patched of snow that fully punched through and lots of ice. We started to head up to bond and snowshoes went back on. And from here til at least the hut was a mess…. Like a complete mess. It was too warm and the deep snow path was crumbling under us. Post holing in snowshoes is not something I would recommend. It was a lot a lot of work for sure!! West bond was pretty decent after maybe .1 and that stayed solid. When we got to zealand I hoped it would get better and it was worse! Then there was a full post holing boot person that we were not happy with and I don’t know how that person could have been since it was 1-2 feet in! Once we got to the hut we breaked and saw it was ice going down so spikes went on. But then realized it went back to a snow packed trail so snowshoes all the way to the trailhead. Then the road we used them and once we got to the gated water treatment area they plowed the road!!! So i barebooted from here and it got to dirt and pavement just before sugarloafs
