All teh crossings were nice and easy except on the Hurrican Trail, which coincides with streams for much of the way, so that really doesn't count as "crossings!" |

Beautiful day for a walk int he woods today and the mountain was crowded, but Franconia Ridge and most of the rest of the Whites were in and out of the clouds.Saw (day-old?)moose tracks right up to the summit of the South Peak, which was a treat. I'd planned to go down the Benton Trail looking for Doc, and then back to Glencliff via Tunnel Brook, but I was worried I might not be able to follow the TB Trail(anybody know?, so I enjoyed a great adventure on the Hurrican Trail- beautiful hardwood forest on both ends with a surprisingly rugged, obscure, and challenging trudge up and over the hump in between. If this turns out to be the last full-day hike of the autumn, it was a good one to end on! |
