Bare booted first mile and a half, then put the snowshoes on for the rest of the day. Snow was progressively softer as the day went on and this trail is an absolute postholed mess. Most people we saw were wearing spikes and it couldn’t have been fun. Higher up where there is deeper snowpack there were thigh deep post holes. Definitely recommend snowshoes. Summit rock is bare, sat on bare rock in a tshirt in late December, a bit disconcerting but enjoyable!
