Comments
Comments: This loop was host to every trail condition known to man today. If you’re looking for a variety of conditions and a great route to practice winter hiking, this is the place for you! Major through Straightback to Anna is in good shape, ice in some spots; bare, dry trail in others; but mostly packed powder and fast footing. From Anna through to Klem via Red is unbroken, except my tracks and one other set. Again, a variety of conditions, but some deep, loose powder. If you have snowshoes, that’s the time to put them on. Powder continues from Klem via White all the way to N. Straightback Loop. Use extreme caution on the ledges ascending Rand. They’re extremely icy, and it was challenging to find a safe route. Picked up packed powder again where Green meets Brook. Brook is messy in spots and crosses running water several times, but there is a packed path that weaves along the side of the drainage.
