We hiked before dawn up the Webster Jackson trail. A couple inches of snow but snowshoes weren't necessary. We postholed only a few times if we stepped off trail. [???] A hundred or more hikers passed us on the way down, turning the trail into a well packed snow sidewalk. At the top of Jackson I put on my crampons for security since I had carried them. This section would have been passable with microspikes but the extra security of crampons was nice to guarantee no slips on the short steep summit approach. A beautiful day with minimal winds around 9:30 when we summited. |
