Comments
Comments: We summited Flume and Liberty today via Flume Slide. We bare booted to the base of the slide. Snow was thin. Couple of the water crossings were challenging, most notably the second crossing of Flume Brook. The tree down as a bridge there is being scooted across and is too icy to walk across. It felt sketchy to scoot, so we went back down trail and found an alternative crossing. We used crampons and ice axes on the slide and I would not do it without them. We had snow the whole way up which left about an inch or two of fresh powder. The snow is crusted over and poses issues with post holing. We used snowshoes on the ridge. There were some large drifts. The fresh powder covered some serious icy patches that froze over further down Liberty Springs.
