Comments
Comments: Long hike with challenging trail conditions. Hubby and I were the first ones up today and maybe since the last rain storm. Road was packed down and easy to walk. We could follow the trail fine but it was like a frozen v-notch. We barebooted to the trail split then switched to snowshoes as the snow became deeper and softer. Temps and winds held in check but the ridge was socked in. Snowshoes on way down too and we still punched through sometimes. Warming temps meant trail conditions down low were also getting softer as the day went on so we kept the snowshoes on. Some bare - wet - muddy spots on the flats but not much trouble. Had microspikes but weren’t much use - need a deeper freeze to set trail. Saw just one other person on their way up while we did the big stream crossing on our way down. So just 3 of us today but hopefully this intel and some trail packing will help others
