| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Had the skiers to contend with today, no issue at 8am in lot 3 but had an SUV waiting for me to pull out of my spot when I returned. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All rock-hoppable, spikes help much with ice covered rocks. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Looks like there has been some since the storms and wind last week. One tree down nearing the ridge which has been broken and can be walked through, could be stabby but hardly a problem. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
One pup had a bloody paw. |
|
| Bugs: |
None |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Nothing |

Like other reports stated, post holes adorn the initial 0.5mi or so. The trail was in surprisingly great condition past the final water crossing (just prior to the lookout spur). Snow was fairly solid for Hillsounds for the ascent. Nothing too soft unless a foot goes off the beaten track. I usually advocate for snowshoes but until we get significant powder this trail is great with just spikes for the moment. Post holes are rock solid down low. Ended up basically trail running down from the summit and hardly left a dent in the snow. Great conditions, better than expected. |
