Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of leaners on the loop, most of which were duck/crawl under. I think Cedar Brook was clear. One bushy blowdown on Hancock Notch that people are walking around (but it isn’t too far off the actual trail).

Comments
Comments: Ugh, the trail is not in great shape. It was obviously broken by non-snowshoers and subsequently refrozen so the trough is too narrow for snowshoes. Could have used them climbing North and along the ridge, but we stuck to Hillsounds. Switched to full crampons to descend South and I was very happy about it. Spikes would have worked, too, but I had the crampons and find them easier on the steep descents. One hiker had tried to fix the trail with snowshoes, but gave up due to the narrow trough. The stable section is literally the width of a boot for much of the trail so there’s lots of post holes. Very frustrating and mentally draining.
