Yesterday there was a passionate plea for snow shoes. Today, as a very small person I certainly did not need them. I floated on the top of the packed trail with no issue in spikes. There really is not much in the way of snow to pack down at this point, there was one place about half way up where the snow was unconsolidated which certainly could be a snowshoe zone for the normal sized adult.
Lovely day on the trail (chilly, 13 at summit) only saw a tiny handful of others. Zealand road can be barefooted but is icy in places after the first mile, so use caution. |
