Comments
Comments: My interest in this local hike peaked after I hiked Lewis Hill last month. A lot of hikers combine these hikes, and approach from Lewis Hill Road. I thought this route makes a lot more sense since the summit is on the Rocks property, therefore avoids passing through some ones property (marked or not). See the link to the map of the Rocks indicating the trails. The summit is not indicated on this map.

The MGM trail is very wide blazed with yellow, and easy to follow. Trail was already traversed several cross country skiers in the last few days. It proceeds gradually up for about half a mile before opening to a small meadow (indicated on the map). After passing through the meadow, the trail turns to the right following the loop. About half way around at the top of the loop, another skid road takes a left (pink ribbon in a tree, too). Shortly, this path took a right; proceeded only for a short while in a direction west of a direct line to the summit I was wondering if there was a circuitous route to the summit following this road, but it petered out. Started the bushwhack at this point which was a bit further west than I intended. The woods was pretty open and easy to traverse. Jar was easy to spot, but had to push through some snow ladened branches to get to it. There is an old sign nailed to the tree, and a jar covered in bright orange tape. Took a more direct route back to the MGM trail, and was back down within 15 minutes. Whole hike took less than an hour and half.
