Was happy to see that many others had been up/down Hale yesterday, so it was pretty well broken out. Snowshoes are definitely still necessary, as bare booting or spikes would chew up the trail pretty significantly since it isn't solidly packed down yet. Some rocks are still hiding under the snow in many places - will probably need another snow or two before everything is totally covered.
Notes on other nearby trails: Trail to the Sugarloafs looked broken out. There were several sets of snowshoe prints headed towards Zealand Hut. Lend a Hand Trail from the top of Hale looked broken out by possibly a combination of skis and snowshoes. Fire Warden's bushwhack/trail did not appear to be broken out, at least at the summit of Hale. |
