Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The AMC has closed parking down at their train station/shop. Barricades up and Closed signs. There was plenty of parking in front of the picnic tables next to the actual train station but there was lots of ice also. 10$ to park at the Highland Center
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: First crossing was not bridged. Went downstream to find rocks that were close together. Still needed spikes to get across on ice domed rocks and steps over the open water. Second crossing was easier but still would want spikes. All others on A-Z were easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some learners that may be an issue if we get enough snow. Willey Range between Field and Willey could use some brushing back.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I would not think it's a great trail at this time for dogs.

Comments
Comments: Very mixed condition day and most of what I write will HOPEFULLY change for the better with the predicted snow. Bare booted to the first crossing and then Hillsounds on for the rest of the day. Only other person I saw was young and in Microspikes. Crossing required spikes (see above) and then the ice domes, rock, snow, ice began. Some places were great others rocks only, and this continued up to the ridge. On the ridge between Field and Willey conditions (more snow) were better. Between Field and A-Z the first 2/3rds were good conditions but the last 1/3 was rock with ice and snow so very tedious. More of the same up to Tom. A-Z was ok for the most part. Snow will fix LOTS of this.
