Ice is the message. All kinds. We used rock spikes the whole time but definitely could have used sharp hillsounds on ridge and crampons coming down from Lafayette to hut. And still plenty of ice for the first 2 miles down from hut. If you have rock spikes, sharp spikes and crampons you like, bring them.
Much windier on ridge than expected but clear skies gave us confidence to cross. Happy to grid out December and hope January brings nice snow packed trails |
