| Water Crossing Notes: |
Due to yesterdays rain, the rivers had noticibly swelled, our short legs did find safe passage. Twelve for me, eleven for her. The wettest Moriah! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There have been a lot of recent wind events, and there are a lot of major blowdowns on Stony Brook Trail. We did our best to clear the little ones and waterbars. I have never seen this trail weter. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I do not feel any canine, no matter how experienced, would do well on the chute from Stony Brook to the summit of Moriah. It's sheet bullet ice. Hard pass. |

A MAGINFICENT day in the forest was had. I teamed up with Not_Ginger_Zee, who, ladies, if you watch Good Morning America has the absolute most fabulous dresses and pumps. Hard not to be jealous. So ya, I hiked with a meterological and fashion royalty today, don't tell ABC. We had great conditions up until about 2500, which we donned spikes till more or less this point on the return. I had great stories, especially at "Naked Yoga Rock" at the last crossing Stony Brook, where one day, well, as you might guess, there was a woman who was absolutely naked doing yoga at sunrise. You cant make that up. As mentioned, good spikes at 2500. The few trip reports yesterday from trustworthy names mentioned ice. I can confirm, bullet ice is prevalant on C-M from Stony Brook to the summit of Moriah. We did the math, and if you are a normal sized male, you should have no problems with good spikes. However, If you are a normal sized female (or undersized male who wears super fun teal skirts) - unless we get a good warm up, you should step with authority, or let out some aggression on your exes head, or that idiot who ghosted you on trail. Oh wait, I am writing a trip report and not a bumble bio.... It's pretty firm bullet ice on the ledges, but as Ibex mentioned, with care, manageable. No issues with good spikes. K10's would not be overkill, either. This closed December for me, as as much as I wanted to celebrate 99.0% - its actually 98.54% womp womp, rounding. I can say though its 570/576 :) |
