Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked in front off, off the driveway (not blocking) the chained gate blocking off entrance to CAMP WALT WHITMAN. Thankfully the sign was there welcoming hikers. *We also got to speak with GEOFF A. who was at Camp upon our return. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALLOWING HIKERS TO THIS BEAUTFUL, PEACEFUL SPOT :-) *I had sent an email to the Camp about a week prior to our arrival, but had not received an email back - makes sense as they are closed for the season, so it was nice to chat briefly with Geoff who was very kind :-)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Black, Wet Trail, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Leaves - Significant/Slippery

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: For the first 2 main (larger) water crossings, the water was high (as the area had received rain this past week and yesterday), so for each crossing, we needed to move south a little to find a more narrow crossing with 1) a downed birch tree laying partially across to balance on, and 2) better-spaced rocks to cross. *once we found these more narrow crossings, we held hands with the IRON MAN (1st grade) and made our way balancing across :-) beyond these two crossing - about mid-way through the hike on the ascent- the trail became essentially stream of running water which was too deep to walk in. This middle section was the only realy wet section for today's hike.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: See above regarding trail was actually an active, running stream. There were a few blowdowns (none seemed real new) that were easy to cross over. There is also two full-trees down, but also must be older since there was an established herd path (could tell with the flattened leaves) around the trees.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Though we did not have a dog hiking with us, I am not certain that I would feel comfortable having a dog hike with us on this route due to the two rooty/scrambles in the upper portion of the trail. We as HUMANS had no problem trekking up/down, just went about them VERY slowly.
Bugs
Bugs: Ha Ha Bugs... see you next year ;-)
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: one leather-looking BLACK GLOVE on the ground at the tree with the TRAIL ENTRANCE (for the Pvt. Richie Green Trail sign)- we left it there, as it seemed like the best place for it.

Comments
Comments: ABOVE, I checked off "Leaves- significant/slippery." However, the leave were only SIGNIFICANT but were not slippery, as they were FROZEN ;-) As for the ICE- there was very little, though it seemed to be UNDER the leaves in spots that really "counted" haha when we were in need of a good footing / landing on our descent ;-) *I had read that there were THREE memorial plaques; however, we were only able to find TWO along with the (under ice) summit/survey marker. Lovely hike today!
