 | Comments: |
The heard path and lower sections of LST were wet with running water and spotty ice. The ice becomes more prevalent around 2,700 ft, hard ice requiring sharp spikes to bite. My friend and I were using beater spikes until this point on the ascent due to the exposed rock but had to switch to sharper ones and just deal with the occasional rocks. From the tent site on the trail was mostly covered, crunchy snow on the sides offer good traction. Franconia Ridge Trail was nice and a sidewalk much of the way.
Crossed paths with a bunch of others but we expected the trails to be more busy than they were. Nice talking with all and a huge thank you to Yvette and Jess for the Fireball shot on Flume!
Flume was my 573/576, just need the Hancocks then a Moosilauke finish planned for Saturday.
