It was a gorgeous day to be out. The weather was good, the winds light on the east side of the mountains. Got to take these days when you can get them. Still, we only ran into two people out, a couple who turned around at the Davis Path due to time constraints.
The trails were easily traversed using spikes. There was probably 4 inches of fresh powder with an underlying layer of crust in the exposed areas that were mostly strong enough to take the weight. The folks we ran into used snowshoes intermittently but didn't feel they were necessary. We did get some balling in our spikes but not bad. A bit more snow, the snowshoes will be of more use.
