Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing on lower Imp was easy cross on submerged rocks. A long stretch of Imp trail itself is practically a brook that you'll have to hop across about two dozen times.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Wildcat Ridge Trail has a large blowdown between A and B blocking the trail, must go around. A blowdown across Carter-Moriah Trail before South Carter that we broke a few limbs off so you can crawl under, will need more trimming to make it easier to go over. A few small blowdowns on North Carter Trail that we were able to clear off trail, but there is another crawl under (this may actually on Imp) that we broke limbs off to make more passible. These all appear to be recent.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any today but notice some recent paw tracks on the Carters. The ice today may make it difficult for some dogs though.

Comments
Comments: More icy conditions today, bring your sharp spikes. The ski trails had a lots of hard ice most of the uphill route with some crunchy snow on the sides. There was a few inches of fresh snow from yesterday over 3k feet. WRT had flow ice in all the expected areas but the new snow did appear to adhere in spots and gave a bit of traction. Heading down off of A to the notch was not much of an issue with the many rock steps. Heading up the steep .3mi of C-M to Carter Dome there was some significant ice but was not difficult to climb providing your traction is sharp. If you are familiar with the trail you should recall a large step drop off North of Middle Carter you need to descend. Typically in dry conditions you would step down then cross diagonally to the other side, this had some significant flow ice today which made that path a bit tricky, we found it easier just to stay to the left where the snow was soft but stable enough.

I have always struggled to find something good to say about Imp trail, but with today's condition it really solidified it's place in my list of least favorite trails to travel. Every other step is either on an rock, hard glare ice, or in running water. You will need good traction for the ice but will destroy them on the rocks. It's currently just a mixed bag of awful.

Other than Imp it was a good day. Great weather day with low winds and clear skies. With these peaks I completed my 12th round of the NH48 and #572/576 for the Grid. 4 peaks left to do over the next 8 days.
