Comments
Comments: Mild, near windless day, trail to myself today. Mild temps made for sloppy trail. 2-8 inches snow; deepest in "glade" section. Trail a mix of wet rock and unstable slushy, sticky snow. Barebooted up; old pair of microspikes on way down. Gave me some traction and didn't worry about dulling my points on rocks while avoiding potential traps under the snow. Very wet in col between East Pk. and main summit. Very glad I brought my winter boots. Coming over from northern Vt.(where we have basically been untouched by snow) I had thought about doing hike in low top Merrils. Wouldn't have been an enjoyable day.
