 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is a new-appearing blowdown 1.3 miles from the Joe Dodge gate. It’s a 2’ trunk that is an easy stepover but then there are some complicated branches that are hard to navigate. A saw would work for the latter. There is a 2’ diameter duck under about 0.3 miles below the North Carter / Imp junction. I am 5’3” and I walked under it with about 2” clearance. Snowfall is going to make this duck under a bit of trouble, I would think. |

 | Comments: |
I ran out of time, because the snow was deeper than I imagined it would be, and the tedious rocky sections were extra slow due to ice and snow cover. At the lower elevations it was 1-2” but by the time I turned around I had been slogging through 5-6” beautiful fresh powder for about 0.5 miles. I got to just below Carter Moriah Trail and had no time left so turned back.
I didn’t pull on snowshoes but it’s tempting, due to snow depth. I would recommend bringing them along! |
