Parking/Access Road Notes: The parking lots at Willey House and at the Arethusa Falls Trailhead were almost empty today (rainy day).

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing Avalanche Brook at the base of Ripley Falls was difficult today because of high water flow from recent and ongoing rain (required a large jump from one large rock to a steeply sloping large rock), but we managed it with the help of the hiker among us with the longest arms - we found it easiest to cross right at the base of Ripley Falls instead of going downstream. All the other stream crossings were easy rock hops, even on this rainy day, and the big ones on Arethusa Falls Trail are crossed on two large wooden bridges.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown on Kedron Flume Trail below the railroad tracks, and a few above them. Several more on Ethan Pond Trail or Arethusa-Ripley Falls Trail (I forgot exactly where). There was one switchback going up Kedron Flume Trail where a trail seems to continue forward for a little way, but the actual trail makes a sharp right turn (only momentarily confusing, but still it might help to mark it better. The section of Arethusa-Ripley Falls Trail between Ripley Falls and Frankenstein Cliff Trail has many small trees on the sides of the trail whose tiny branches are getting in the way of the trail - they are easy to push aside, but there are a lot of them - it would be good to trim them.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be OK. Lots of water sources. Might be a good idea to keep dogs on leash at the top of Ripley Falls, since if they go out on the ledges there and slip, it's a long way down.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: It rained during our entire hike, but it's a nice hike for a rainy day - very little in the way of distant views, but spectacular close-ups of Ripley Falls and Arethusa Falls with a lot of water flowing. We did this as a point-to-point hike with a car spot, from Willey House (Kedron Flume Trailhead) to Ripley Falls to Arethusa Falls to the Arethusa Falls Trailhead.
