 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All trails were their usual rocky, ledgey and rooty selves. The section of The Link between Caps and Castle received a brushing this summer and the three women who did it did an incredible job. Great effort. Caps Ridge has lots of failing or near failing water bars that need a pickaxe to clean them out. A trail crew is needed; it's more than a TM can be asked to handle at this point. I kicked those that had loose debris but the packed stuff is way beyond that. In a few places hikers had made things worse by using the waterbars as the trail to avoid simple step ups thus causing the waterbars to empty back into the main trail. Don't do that; be aware of what your are doing to the trail. There were no removable blowdowns on any of these trails. All signs were present. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Aside from the general roughness and many scrambles that mark these trails, and a potentially tough rescue if there is an injury to the pup, Cornice in particular has lots of rocks with every sharp crystals that could rip up paw pads that aren't really tough. |

 | Comments: |
It was the simple and fun scrambled legs loop today but I wanted to check out the work on the notorious section of The Link. As noted, the three volunteers did a great job. Those who hike it now and say never again, at least they got to see it at its best. The trails were dry and temps mild making for a pleasant walk. |
