Parked for free along Dublin road, and did a short road walk to the Gilson Pond Park entry, to avoid paying the outrageous $15 NHSP hiking fee. |

All trails in good shape. Was glad to see that the Smith Connector (a lovely trail) has been freshly blazed, as the last time I was on it the paint marks were barely discernible. |

A beautiful day to be on Monadnock, and managed to get in 9.2 miles with 2600' of elev gain using eight trails. There were hardly any other folks on the mountain; crossed paths with only nine people all day, all near the peak, and enjoyed chatting a bit with five fellow old duffers (two solos from Mass and a group of three from the Jaffrey area). Leaf cover was significant only on Birchtoft--this trail did not appear to have had much recent traffic. |
