Comments
Comments: webster-jackson trail was tracked out to jackson summit. 4-6 inches on average with some slush, mud and crusty ice. had first tracks most of the way to mizpah. roughly 6 inches of snow on average with deeper drifts leaving the summit of jackson. more drifting and deeper snow heading up to pierce. from pierce to eisenhower the trail was quite drifted in with knee and some thigh deep drifts. this continued up the cone of eisenhower with the usual drifted spots just below the summit. crawford path heading down to the notch was much like webster-jackson. put on microspikes at the webster-jackson split and wore them the rest of the day. could have booted with todays conditions, but the extra grip was nice. was wishing i had snowshoes for the section of trail between pierce and eisenhower. there were other sections they would have been nice as well, but would have gotten pretty beaten up over much of the route.
a beautiful day. warm and little wind. nice views and a wintery feel to the snowy woods. great day to be out.
