Water Crossing Notes: Rock hopable today
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition, although there is a significant level of erosion on the trail ascending to the N Hancock summit; lots of loose rock at higher elevations.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cooper and Piper had a fabulous time. There is plenty of water on the trails down low, but once climbing towards N Hancock, there is no water. And as expected, there was nothing on the bushwhack over the NW Hancock. Bushwhack can be hard for some pups, but these experienced doggos did great.
Bugs
Bugs: N/A
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Blue cushion like squares & navy bandana on bushwhack (packed both out), but they were signs that we were moving in the right direction!!!

Comments
Comments: Great day in the mountains with Jason, Goldrush, Coop, & Piper. Weather was quite warm for this time of the year, and as expected lots of folks were out enjoying the trails. Views from the summits in the clouds were mostly non-existent; although it may have cleared later.

Took trails to N Hancock. There were several quite muddy sections, which was a surprise since it hasn't rained in a while. Followed trail past summit to hard right turn, and started the bushwhack at this location. Initially, lots of spruce to step over, but once through travel was easier. Mostly stayed on the ridge (as suggested in previous trail reports), with diversions to either side when blowdowns or spruce prevented direct travel. On approach to NW summit, a faint herd path was located which made travel considerable easier. The ridge at this point was quite narrow, as described in previous reports, as well. We stayed at the summit for a while looking over the many earlier entries in the log, what fun. Most were on individual pages since the binding in to notebook has failed.

We retraced our path to return to N Hancock; Herd path off summit, then along the ridge as much as possible. We came out on the HLT about 20 feet further down the trail from our entry point. And out before dark.
