Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: If there was an award for the most impeccably maintained trail in the WMNF, then the Mt. Kinsman Trail would win almost every year. I met the trail maintainer Bruce years ago on my way down the mountain, and he made a funny quip about people mistaking his love of labor as a labor of love. I think he must love the trail and the labor equally. Hats off to you sir, your love is very much appreciated and very much not unnoticed!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw many great dogs today, and one sh*thead who went after Fin and another pup. Luckily all three were leashed, but it was on the North view ledge with limited space so it was a little hairy. Dog was really desperate to attack the others, and did so abruptly with no warning. Maybe if your dog wants to kill other dogs do t take it on 4k’s on a beautiful Saturday, knucklehead. North Kinsman is super rigged on both sides, make sure your dog can handle steep, wet scrambles or be prepared to assist it. Fin did great but is showing her age on the tougher sections.

Comments
Comments: Kinsman conga line!!! Apparently everyone in New England, including myself, decided to hike the Kinsman’s today! Harsh reminder def why I very seldom hike 4k’s on the weekend unless I start before dark. Saw well over 100 people, most of whom were very pleasant. Cleaned up the Flume Spur which I had missed twice before and the ledge below the ledge on North Summit described in the guidebook. It was fun to watch a dozen people crammed onto the tiny view ledge above us while we basked in the sun by ourselves on a ledge 4x the size with a vastly superior view.
