Comments
Comments: An absolutely stunning day. Stashed a bike at the Ammo trailhead and hiked this northbound. Biked back to my car on Route 302. Temps around 40 to start and approaching 60 mid-day on the ridge with zero wind. Clearest day I have spent in the Whites with Camels Hump and Mansfield in the Greens easy to pick out. Trails in wonderful shape. There is leaf cover at lower elevations but nothing I found to be a problem. Several wet & muddy spots south of Eisenhower, but nothing terrible. A good amount of black ice at the top 1/2 mile of Ammonoosuc, especially in the area where the trail is on the rock right next to the waterfalls. Avoidable, but extreme care must be taken, especially if descending. Definietly carry spikes if you are doing this trail.
