Also I still need to pay close attention to the White trail break off to ascend Belknap, and some of the routing down Gunstock Mtn Tr/Orange after the Brook/winter trail break off could use 1-2 more blazes of orange. That said, I always admire the impressive collections of rock steps throughout, reflecting years of devotion from the BRATTS maintainers. Thank you.
Fabulous day and trails were dry and busy but not crowded. Did the counter clockwise loop which put us descending Gunstock Mtn Tr (Orange). Though dry, the extensive leaf cover made for tricky footing esp on the steeps. On this section we remained on the main trail and did not take the winter bypass (green); not sure if it would have been any better though.
With 60-degree temps we laid in the sun at Piper and Belknap basking in late fall’s beauty. The chair lift and zip line brought traffic to the Gunstock summit including a witch in heels, keeping it fun. |
