 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
1.4 mi up Ravine Lodge Rd. is a fork where a service road veers left. One must park below that fork, on the right while heading downward. At 9:30am, we parked about 10-20 cars down from the fork. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All significant crossings had bridges in good condition. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Three easy-to-step-over blowdowns along the Snapper Trail (a pair in the part near the brook, one higher up). Other than that, the trails are in excellent condition. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
All these trails are good for dogs, but bring water since I think there were no water sources >1-2 miles above the trailhead. |
 | Bugs: |
None. |
 | Lost and Found: |
There is a black Columbia Omni-Heat jacket hung on a tree at the intersection of Gorge Brook Trail and Snapper Trail. |

 | Comments: |
We did the standard 8.1 mile counterclockwise loop listed on page 293 of the 31st edition of White Mountain Guide. By White Mountain standards, the trails are quite easy, with the usual rocks and roots but never especially steep. We saw one or two tiny patches of ice near the summit, hardly worth mentioning. Don't expect colorful foliage anymore - the leaves are brown now, and most of them are on the ground. |
