Small parking lot able to fit at least a few cars on Old Dublin Rd. The road in is dirt and narrow (watch out for cars as it’s residential and well travelled; I ran into at least a few) but suitable for any car. |

As the guidebook mentions, the trail isn’t really blazed down low where it follows the road but this is no issue as the road is obviously east to follow. The turn off of it and onto the footpath would be hard to miss and from then on it is well marked with white disks. The footbed is obscured by leaves though. I don’t recall any blowdowns. |

Day 358, Peak 355. 2nd hike and 3rd peak of the day after Mt Mist and Webster Slide Mtn. I again lucked out in that while I drove through torrential downpours not far at all from the trailhead, by the time I arrived, they’d subsided and I hiked in nothing more than light rain at most. This was another “redo” for me as I hiked the thumbs up/down loop from the Harriskat Center year ago. Seemed a good one to redo to make sure I got the highpoint and I got another SNH redline out of it too ;)
The trails were of course very wet with the rain and leaves are all over the footbed. As noted in the trail maintenance section though, it’s not hard to follow. No running water on the trail. The highpoint is right at the cairn which also provides a nice seat ;) Gaia had me at 3mi with a little less than 800ft of gain. 7 more days and 10 more peaks to go… |
