Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Cascade Brook was flowing torrentially and totally uncrossable. Even with waders it would have been far too dangerous, either going north-south on the Basin Cascades trail or south-north on the Cascade Brook trail. We had to bushwhack for over a mile up along, or at a slight distance parallel to the north, until finally connecting with the Cascade Brook trail above where it crosses. From there to Lonesome Lake, the trail was pretty much under water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Pemi Trail looks like the forgotten child. Most bridges have washed or rotted out. From Kinsman Pond trail to L.Lake it's pretty much just stepping stones and one-out-of-two log bridges. Probably a bit more inviting when not submerged.
