Trails
Trails: Signal Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, October 22, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Road is in good shape all the way out to Sawyer Pond; still very reasonably smooth, not terribly potholed.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The brook by the bifurcation in the trail is a tad full, so that crossing will take a little more thinking, but it's not a raging river by any stretch of the imagination.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was in fine shape. Only one significant blow-down that's easily managed.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several happy pups out enjoying the weather, none seemed to have trouble with anything other than the "scary" steps on the fire tower. (That timid terrier had to be carried down. Poor thing.)
Bugs
Bugs: A few odd flies, but above 3,000 feet or so, they were quite scarce. Overall, bugs weren't a big problem.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Lost: stress. Found: happiness.

Comments
Comments: I've been having a run of wonderful weather on the trail lately, and the good times have kept on going. This was #36 for my October 48, #253 for my grid, and what a memorable day it was. Crowded parking in the lot (several cars parallel parked on the roadside) but somehow, that didn't translate into a feeling that the trail itself was overwhelmed with people. Met several hikers who had hit the mid-point of their 48 list, which was nice. Also met a blind hiker doing her list, which was awesome. Did a short "bushwhack-lite" through a thorny patch to find the pond that sits alongside the trail, which was a nice bit of solitude. In short, an amazing outing on an amazing mountain.

Photos and a more detailed write-up are on my blog, as always. Share and enjoy!
