Easy and enjoyable hike! Trail conditions were perfect. Our thanks to whoever has been maintaining the Firewardens Trail. The herd path along the river (a bit past the North Twin Trail river crossing) was in fine condition, too. There is presently no cairn to mark the Firewardens Trail. You need to keep looking on your left for a couple of paths that lead sharply uphill to the start of the trail, which starts left and then switches back after a bit. Firewardens Trail was really easy to follow today. We only had minimal ice and certainly no need for traction. We met a hiker who had done Hale Brook Trail, who said the ice he encountered was easily avoidable. My thanks to Brent for a great hike together! My first 4k since January. Felt good! |
