plenty of parking at HQ. the tollbooth is still manned so it will cost you $5 to get to the trails. |

bridge is out on Shaw tr at the junction with South Ridge. looks like it's been out for a while. 3 large trees across Split Rock, two of them have good bypasses. The third (16" diameter with many branches) is almost at the mid point, didn't have a bypass that I saw and it's pretty tricky to get over/thru. some limbing with a trail saw might help until park employees can get out there with a chainsaw. |

must be leashed on the trails. saw a few. one unleashed with a trail runner, but he/she was fine. super dry on the trails, so bring water for fido, unless you're ok with them running down to one of the murky ponds. |

Pawtuckaway is always a pleasure. It's close, has decent parking, the trails are interesting and varied and the geology can't be beat. With three summits to choose from you can plan your hike for as long or as short as you desire. |
