Stil a couple spots remained upon my late arrival at 10:15am. Appropriately late for a Sunday woods hike. |

Nada. Nearly bone dry, even after recent liquid sunshine events. |

A couple blowdowns but otherwise all the trails were in good condition. A shout out to the trail maintainers: thank you! |

My hiking buddy sighted two Leki hiking poles behind an empty parking spot. Left them at the trail kisok. Hope the rightful owner returns to find them. I found a metal dinner fork. Ditto, but guessing the owner won't care. |

Good day for a woods hike. Mostly overcast and cool. No flying pests, save one lone mosquito in the parking lot on our return. Easily identified and dispatched.
Not much wildlife aside from a red squirrel seemingly unhappy to accept company, a few ravens and a couple small, unidentified winged flyers.
There were bukos and bukos of 'sroomies along tge trails, espnin an open field. NH's recent rain storms broughtout the fungi in droves. Last spore hurrah before winter perhaps. Saw much the same in Merrimack's Horse Hill Nature Preserve on this past Friday.
Maybe a dozen other hiking souls. Forgotten how nice area is. Certainly far less crowded and by far quieter than Monadnock, Pack or North Pack. Will definitely return sooner than my last winter visit from a Greenfiel trailhead. Enjoyed the Farrington rd trailhead location alot more. Great day on the trails and on this little mountain. Doesn't get any better. |
