Parking/Access Road Notes: I drove in 3mi along Millsfield Pond Rd (shown as Minsfield Pond Rd on Gaia) from Rt 16 just over the border in Errol to a pulloff/old logging yard on the right. The road in is dirt but is in fine shape for any car. Lots of UTVs and such on the road.

Comments
Comments: Day 308, Peak 287. 1st peak of the afternoon.

Rather than follow the old road shown on Gaia N/NW I set off right toward the peak, crossing the drainage, then going through some right woods with paths through them. I came near the small marshy area shown on CalTopo but it was dry best I could tell. Sooner or later I got out of the thicker woods and into younger but open enough growth that allowed for decent travel. I don’t remember this one terribly well but I think I stayed in stuff like that or open hardwoods most of the way to the peak until I neared the summit and I began to hit some spruce as others have noted just to the SE of the highest contour. I pushed my way through and soon found myself at the highpoint with register. Just under 40min to get here at a good clip. I signed in and began to head back but in a different direction as I noted a road descending. The road travelled west though while I needed to go south so I begrudgingly got off it in a couple hundred feet and contoured SE back toward my ascent line. Before reaching it I found a path down and followed it barely skirting the open area shown on Gaia between 2100 and 2200ft. I pretty much followed my same route down except that I went directly through the marshy area shown on CalTopo near the car and it was almost all dry. Lucky me!

The hike was about 1.75mi with 600ft of gain and it took me 1.5hrs to complete. 57 more days and 78 more peaks to go…
