Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This report is to hopefully clear up some potential road confusion so others don’t make the same mistake we did. Based upon reports, it sounds like people come in from West Branch Clear Stream Rd. This is right next to the campground next to Log Haven restaurant. The start of the road is blocked by a log though. You could see a road connecting to it just beyond though that seemed to emanate from the campground so we took this road though it appeared it may be a driveway and did lead past someone’s house. After getting yelled at by the people on the porch, we retreated. The woman later came up to us as we parked next door at the campground to try and figure out how others had gone in. She more patiently explained that the log is there because it’s an ATV trail and cars aren’t allowed. Going around through that road/driveway by their house isn’t allowed either. I asked if there was another Clear Stream Rd or something nearby as we know many people have come in this way in cars and it eventually became clear that people must be accessing this road from a connecting road 1 1/3mi to the north along Rt 26. It’s unnamed on Gaia and doesn’t show on my iPhones GPS but according to Gaia it connects back with West Branch Clear Stream Rd and is legal for cars to drive on. At the point it connects back with West Branch Clear Stream Rd, I guess cars are allowed to drive on that section of it. That said, she seemed to think it was very rough and not passable by most cars. It was an incredible confusing situation but I think I understand how to legally get access now though it still doesn’t seem to quite match up with previous reports here. Maybe the ATV trail is new? In any case, feel free to email me with any questions as I’m sure my description is about as clear as mud.

Comments
Comments: Twinkle toes and I were going to try for this after Cave Mtn but had major confusion after being told we couldn’t access the peak from the road it seemed everyone else did, etc. See notes above. By the time we got it all straightened out I no longer had the time to hike it.
