Aaron Ledge (or Aaron's Ledge) in Springfield has been on my to-do list for a while now. Turns out it's pretty great and also easy to get to! This 2,031 ft. knob offers excellent views to the west from two large open ledges.
There's no formal trail here, but a combination of brushy logging roads and snowmobile trails lead to the top. Some of these are shown on Gaia, and if you're good with navigation, you'll have no problem. Up higher, a few snomo signs indicate the name of the ledge and which way to go.
Views at the high point are somewhat restricted by trees, but as mentioned above, two open ledges provide fantastic views west toward the forbidden zone of Croydon Peak and the long, ledgy ridge of Grantham Mtn.
Curious about doing this one again in winter; it would make for an excellent snowshoe trip. |
