Plenty of parking at Old Man Viewing. Walk up the bike path and hang a left at the NOBO pulloff for former Old Man viewing site and the herd path is easy to follow up to the Greenleaf Trail |

What a mess it is by the pond just below the Hut and Lafayette. Really lots of mud and water and a few poor excuses for stepping rocks? Much worse than I remember from a year ago.

Greenleaf is in good condition, a few water bars need clearing and some brushing will need to be down soon but trail is fine and my favorite way up to Mt. Lafayette. |

After a late night having fun at Funspot I finally started hiking around ten am. Met only four people headed down Greenleaf from the hut. Trail is good condition and it is my favorite way up quiet and better footing than the rest. I walked past the hut with many people milling around outside of it. Not much of a breeze and the sun was hot. Only a dozen people on the summit. Everyone seemed to have an unleashed dog. between Lafayette and Lincoln passed by a lot of people and their dogs headed to Lafayette. Forest Service Gal on summit of Lincoln, said hello and turned back the way I had come. Breeze finally came up and it felt good. Sort of surprised by how few people were out and I counted my blessings. This is the first time I hit Lafayette and Lincoln as an out and back. I liked it very much. |
